Our baby boy’s nursery theme consists of safari animals, grey and wood. A cot use to be in there but since he still sleeps in our room it’s become more of a toy/play room now. My favourite thing in his room is the handmade hanging name branch. My husband found the branch and sanded it smooth and he also spray painted some of the wooden letters. I hand drew aztec patterns on the rest of the letters and hung them on the branch with twine. I love the theme of his room because he can grow with it.
So much has happened over the past year. I started my first full time office job after I graduated from university, bought my first home with my then fiance, and got married!
I married my highschool sweetheart after nearly 7 years together in November last year at a beautiful rustic vineyard in Mornington, Tucks Ridge. Melbourne spring weather was terrible. It was cold and rainy but luckily on the day of the wedding the sun came through! It was warm and dry throughtout the whole day, just beautiful.
Our wedding was very intimate, with just our close family and friends to witness our special day. I never dreamt of weddings when I was younger and the stress of even planning a small wedding made me want to elope but I’m so glad we didn’t because it was such an amazing day and we loved sharing it with our close family and friends.
It was our five year anniversary last week and my boyfriend gave me a beautiful wooden box that he hand engraved. He bought a wood burner/engraver and a plain wooden craft box. He sanded it, engraved it, stained and polished it, and wrote a lovely poem inside the box. It was a beautiful and heartwarming surprise. I think he’s more creative than me!
Handmade gifts are so precious and sentimental. My boyfriend recently carved me a beautiful wooden heart pendant which I wear on an antique brass chain. It is made of pine wood which is a soft wood and easier to carve with. He then sanded, stained and polished the heart numerous of times to get a nice glossy golden brown colour. It is very simple wood crafting, but the time, love, and work he put in it makes it so much more special.
Christmas is coming up, so what is the perfect place to shop for something special or custom-made? Etsy of course! However, it’s probably a little too late since Christmas is only a few days a way.
I love receiving custom made items from Etsy sellers. The whole process of communicating what I would like in a custom item and Etsy sellers making it come true is very rewarding. I have bought many custom-made things for myself and for others on Etsy and I would like to share some of them with you!
This Perfume bottle necklace was the first thing I bought on Etsy. It was from Plastic Couture. It originally had a silver chain and lace, the seller swapped it with an antique brass chain and a tiny antique brass key.
This leather shoulder and satchel bag was from Paulina Carcach. I got it custom made in cognac coloured leather. I receive so many wonderful comments on it!
I gave this guitar pick necklace to a close friend on her birthday. She likes playing the guitar and her favourite colour is purple, so I searched long and hard to find an Etsy seller that made wooden guitar picks and also had Purpleheart wood. Purpleheart wood is a wood that is naturally a beautiful purple colour. Magic wood made the perfect guitar pick pendant! Plastic Couture supplied me with the antique brass chain and the tiny glass leaf. It was the perfect gift for her and she loved it, of course.
The stone blossom ring was an anniversary present from my boyfriend. It was from a wonderful Etsy seller, Revonav. The ring is made of Argentium Silver and Rose gold. It is such a beautiful and unique ring!
I had this wooden travel mug made for my boyfriend because he loves coffee! It was from Just Turned and he did a lovely job on it. The wooden band is cherry wood and the darker part is walnut wood.
